DUDLEY CAMERA CLUB
Welcome to our 2011/2012 season commencing 5th September 2011
From your new Chairman.
Chairman, Dudley Camera Club - - an honour and privilege I never expected
at this stage in my life.
The first thing I have to do, on behalf of ALL our members, is to extend
a big vote of thanks to Joyce our “retiring” Chairman, for all her work on
our behalf over the past four years, with a personal hope that I will be
allowed to call on her experience as I will undoubtedly need. Also, I must
say thank you to Kevin for looking after our finances so well over the past
years and wish him well in his future endeavours.
The very existence of our club depends entirely on our own continued
support and can only be enhanced by the potential enrolment of new
members. Becoming a member myself was 100% as a result of reading about
and visiting the exhibition in the Dudley Museum and Art Gallery and being
massively impressed by the high quality of the Members’ work which was on
display for all to see.
Please, can we all endeavour to “advertise” OUR club at every
opportunity and persuade, coerce or even “press gang” relatives, friends and
work colleagues into coming along, possibly to a presentation or judging night
to see what it’s about, but most of all, to the annual exhibition. It is, after
all, the only REAL time that even we, the existing members have the
opportunity to appreciate each other’s efforts.
Nicknamed “The Chairman’s Challenge”, but this year it becomes a ‘new’
contest for the Stewart Stevens Trophy. The event will take place earlier in
the calendar so that it can be included in the exhibition presentation night.
The chosen subject title this year is “Straight lines and curves”. Use your
imagination, but do have a go. Last season’s entry of only 22 images was
a bit sparse and I am sure we can do better. Date etc. is in the programme.
Shoot days to Lichfield (own cars) and Hereford (small coach) earlier
this year were both thoroughly enjoyed and we still have to see the resultant
images from those excursions. We hope to arrange something similar during
this coming season and would welcome your suggestions.
The new season for 2011/2012 gets under way on Monday 5th September,
details of which are all contained in the following pages. I feel we should
all thank Roy Johnson for his time and the substantial effort he has put in
and congratulate him for producing a superb mix of Presenters and Subjects.
I am sure that we, along with ALL OUR GUESTS, will be thoroughly
entertained.
Shout it loud, Dudley Camera Club Is a GOOD place to be.
Barry Evans, Chairman.
